tan lines across my mind
a patchwork surface
of different parts exposed
varying shades
graduate the surface
from pushing levels
of how publicly uncovered
our flesh can be
here and there a blemish
no tattoos to readily show off
without long stories that justify
a collection of scars
some of my skin
will never see the light of day
